AI Software Engineer

- Remote work policy: Fully remote (US), with a significant timezone overlap required with the existing team members. Our four-person team is already stretched time-zone-wise from CA to Belgium, and going 3 more timezones out would eliminate the possibility of any synchronous time ( the company is looking for candidates from the United States or locations with a timezone that allows for a reasonable overlap with the existing team members)

Position Overview:
As an AI Software Engineer, you will play a key role in building the world's best Agent-hosting platform as part of our cutting-edge Vercel for AI platform. This platform is dedicated to hosting future AI Apps, ranging from ChatGPT bots and Langchain question-answering APIs to profile picture generators and storybook writers. Your work will involve designing and developing AI agents that blend traditional and AI-native programming, enabling seamless conversational and structured interactions. These agents will serve as colleagues, tutors, support representatives, and friends, integrating deeply within existing software to perform various tasks, such as document analysis, account auditing, alert triggering, and product suggestions.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and design AI agents to meet specific objectives.
- Develop and implement conversational interfaces and structured I/O for AI agents, facilitating natural language interactions with users.
- Integrate AI agents within existing software systems, enabling seamless data processing and analysis.
- Conduct testing and debugging of AI agents to identify and resolve issues or bugs, ensuring high performance and efficiency.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI technologies, machine learning algorithms, and natural language processing techniques.
- Work closely with data scientists and engineers to collect and preprocess data for training AI models.
- Contribute to large open-source projects and engage with emerging GitHub communities to advance AI agent development.
- Provide direct interactions with users and diverse communities, acting as the company representative.
- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define and refine AI agent functionalities based on user feedback and requirements.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in relevant professional work, showcasing proficiency in Python and software engineering.
- Proven experience in developing AI agents, chatbots, or conversational AI solutions.
- Familiarity with AI frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Dialogflow.
- Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) techniques and sentiment analysis.
- Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and machine learning (ML) model development.
- Background in machine learning(ML), data mining, or artificial intelligence (AI) research.
- Passion and experience building projects using machine learning (ML) and/or generative AI.
- Experience with cloud-based AI services and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud AI).
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript and knowledge of web development technologies (HTML, CSS)
- Familiarity with API integration and RESTful web services.
- Open-source, community-driven development experience, engaging with users in open and collaborative environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with users and diverse communities.
- Previous work on agent-hosting platforms or AI-native programming projects.
